"Several artists have the same name as me, so to avoid confusion I came
up with "Canteen Slim." My acrylic paintings could be described as folk
art. When people ask me why I don't paint more realism, I explain that if I
wanted to see a perfect horse, I'd look at a photograph or go see one in
person. While I appreciate the talent that goes into fine art, I prefer to paint
the imperfection of folk art which could include the out of scale, the off
balance and the unexpected. So what if a cow is painted green, and the
farmers shoes are almost as long as his legs.. All of my pieces are
painted on wood, most of which I find. Sometimes I incorporate misc.
items such as ropes, game pieces and who knows what else. I also use
old trim wood, yard sticks, garden hose's etc, for the frames. It's a lot of
