Wednesday - January 7:
Carrie Underwood & Rascal Flatts perform on the People's Choice
Awards tonight on CBS. They’re each nominated in two categories. Other
nominees include Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley & Taylor Swift. Jewel’ll be
making a special appearance too & don’t forget, Rascal Flatts are
expected to make a big announcement tonight as well.
I have a few more handshake reviews in from fans. Tho Leann Rimes is
tiny, she has a strong handshake with great eye contact & she seems
sincerely pleased to meet people. Sara Evans got great marks for hers –
they called it classy & proper.
Jake Owen is going to sit down with the guys in his band next week & go
at it like a football team would. They’ll go over their playbook from last year
and talk about what worked & what didn't and what they’ll change.
I asked Merle Haggard if he had an extra $500 dollars what would he do
with it. He said he’d buy a solar panel to power a well on his property. He’
s pretty much gone green. He eats organic as much as possible & he’s
changing all his buses to propane & bio diesel this year.
Finally – I just chatted with Rodney Atkins & asked now that he’s been
married for years, what’s he learned about women he didn’t know before.
Rodney said, “that I was wrong on just about everything I thought I knew.”
Tuesday - January 6:
I’m hearing Carrie Underwood’s now dating a hockey player - Ottawa
Senator's Mike Fisher. Carrie was spotted at a game in Toronto sitting in
the Fisher family private box seats & she was shown hugging Mike's
brother on the Jumbotron.
Not only will Rascal Flatts perform on the People's Choice Awards
tomorrow night, they're also expected to make a big announcement.
Taylor Swift is shooting a video here in downtown Nashville today.
Alan Jackson’s role models for his live shows are the Hag & George
Strait. He says, “I don't come out of the floor or the ceiling & I don't have
exotic dancers.”
James Otto just had surgery on his shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff. He
has to have 6 weeks of physical therapy but says he won’t be cancelling
any shows.
Jack Ingram told me his X tour partner Martina’s not a diva at all - she &
her family always eat with everyone else. Jack also told me Lee Ann
Womack is a “loaded pistol” & she’s not the quiet, reserved girl we think
she is.
Next time you go see a movie, get there early & you’ll see Trace Adkins in
the pre-show for a nonprofit group called the Honor Flight Network, they
help war vets.
Finally - I saw Marley & Me over the weekend with Jennifer Aniston and
Owen Wilson and it was great just make sure you bring lots of Kleenex!
Monday - January 5:
Reba says she’s currently having meetings in LA and looking at scripts &
hopefully a new TV show will soon be in the making. She says the tv biz
has changed drastically since she quit doing 'Reba' cuz of all the strikes
but hopefully she’ll get another chance soon. She still has a home in LA
and is there often. Speaking of music, Reba told me her dream duet
partner is Bette Midler.
An unauthorized biography of Keith Urban is due in Australian bookstores
any day. 'Fortunate Son: The Unlikely Rise of Keith Urban,' was written by
Jeff Apter.
Trace Adkins has a little bit to say about everything & this time it’s dogs.
He says, “I've had dogs all my life & I’ve also had pit bulls. I'm one of those
people who say there aren't any bad dogs. There are just bad owners."
Try and guess who I’m talking about. This star turned 62 Christmas Day.
His restaurant on the Vegas strip is said to be the top grossing in the
nation. He has a clothing line. His concert tickets always sell out quickly.
He’s good buddies with Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney. He had a
handful hits with other people but the only top 10 of his entire career was in
1977 & he still makes over 40 million a year….

handshake wasn’t the best – she was all business & they said her hands

Friday - January 2:
In case you didn’t hear, Lady A’s Charles Kelly got engaged Christmas
morning to his girlfriend of 2 years, Cassie McConnell. She’s a publicist
for Big Machine Records.
Karin McKemey & her son had a surprise visit last week from Garth
Brooks at the Augusta, Ga., hospital where they’re recovering from burns.
Garth brought a guitar & said he wanted to see how they were and to pray
for her son Connor. He heard about them from family members who saw
her story on-line.
Willie Nelson’s in the latest Rolling Stone. He reveals he has an iPhone.
He still tours 200 days a year & says he’ll never stop touring & he stays in
shape on the road by biking. He also likes to bowl on his Wii with his
teenage sons, Lukas and Micah.
Nicole Kidman moved out of her home in a ritzy harbourside area of
Sydney Australia a year ago but she apparently left her yacht. Angry locals
want the ship gone & they say she’s getting special treatment cuz of who
she is.
Shania’s buying a ranch in France. It includes a large pond, outdoor pool,
winter garden and an ancient farm that used to house a mini-zoo. Shania
wants to transform it into a place of rest that also respects the environment.
Finally - Kellie Pickler says her favorite place is in NY - Manhattan’s Saks
5th Avenue shoe department. They even have a special express elevator
to the shoe department.
Thursday - December 17:
Paramedics were called yesterday to a home here where Mindy
McCready was staying. It was a suicide attempt & she had slit her wrists.
She’s now in the hospital.
Jo Dee Messina’s baby boy is due mid-Feb. Her career used to come
before family, but now that’s all changed & she says, “I’m still a workhorse
but I lived in Nashville over 10 years & I still didn’t how to get around
downtown.” You can also find Jo Dee’s Hallmark cards everywhere-they
have her singing Christmas classics.
Toby Keith was raised in Moore, Oklahoma & he has "OU," for the
University of Oklahoma, painted on the bottom of his hot tub. He’s also a
crossword puzzle whiz that can do USA Today’s in under 15 minutes. Toby
says, “vocabulary helps you in songwriting, in business & in everything.”
Clint Black and Mark Wills are label-less. Equity Records, the label started
by Clint has closed. Little Big Town got out a few months ago & went to
Capitol & they’ll be on with Conan O’Brien tonight.
Trisha Yearwood says growing up, Christmas included sitting around the
table talking until the food got cold and you got hungry again.
Finally - Taylor Swift ends 08 as the best selling act in country music.
