To those born between 1930 -1979...
We survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were
pregnant. They took aspirin, ate tuna and didn't get tested for diabetes. We
were put to sleep on our tummies in cribs covered with lead-base paints. We
had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when
we rode bikes, we did not have helmets on our heads. As children, we'd ride in
cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts & no air bags.  Moms
outstretched arm was our 'seat belt.'  Riding in the back of a pick- up was
always a special treat. We drank water from the hose and we shared pop with
friends, from one bottle and no one died. We ate white bread, real butter and
bacon & we drank Kool-Aid by the gallon and, we weren't overweight. WHY?
Because we were always outside playing! We would leave home in the morning
and as long as we were back at dark. No one got mad & no one worried.  We
would spend hours building go-carts then ride them down the hill, only to find
out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times,we learned
to solve the problem. We did not have Nintendo or X-Box.  We only had 3
channels on our tv and no cable, no DVD's, no surround-sound, no cell phones
& no internet.  We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there
were no lawsuits. We ate worms and the worms did not live in us forever. We
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would
happen, we did not put out our eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's
house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in.  Little
League had tryouts and everyone did not make the team. Those who didn't had
to learn to deal with disappointment. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we
broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!  These
generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and
inventors ever. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we
learned how to deal with it all. Jay Leno said,  'With hurricanes, tornados, fires,
mud slides & severe flooding tearing up the country from one end to another,
and with bird flu & terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God
out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

To get rid of fruit flies...
Wash with soap and water any fruit you plan to leave out on the counter to
ripen, like bananas, right when you get home from the store.  Before you even
bought them, eggs were laid and the warmth of your home makes them hatch.

Honey facts.......
Properly cured honey (honey with less than 18% water) will never spoil.
A single honeybee will only produce approximately 1/10 teaspoon of honey in
her lifetime.
Honey has antibacterial properties which combats infections and speed the
healing process. Wounds treated with honey heal faster & there’s less scarring.
Honey on a wound produces hydrogen peroxide. Research shows it’s also
powerful against drug-resistant hospital killer golden staph Staphylococcus
aureus. Studies show honey has effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
properties. It painlessly removes pus, scabs and dead tissue from wounds and
stimulates new tissue growth. Honey has been used to treat infections in a wide
range of wound types. These include burns, venous leg ulcers, leg ulcers, foot
ulcers, pressure ulcers, abscesses, boils & more. In many of these and other
cases, honey has been used to heal wounds not responding to treatment with
conventional antibiotics and antiseptics. Honey is particularly useful in treating
burns, insect bites, animal bites and skin disease.
Do not buy the regular store honey, they cook all the nutrients out of it, get
local honey or honey from the health food store.
Honey provides strength and energy to our bodies & instantly boosts
endurance and reduces muscle fatigue in athletes. Next time before you go for
a workout, take a spoon of honey.  If you are feeling lethargic in the morning,
try honey.
Honey’s antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties can help improve your
digestive system and help you fight disease. Start every day with a spoonful of
honey and lemon juice from half a lemon into a cup of hot water.  Mix 1
tablespoon of honey with a cup of warm water for a mouthwash. Honey treats
yeast infections, athletes foot and arthritis. It inhibits the growth of certain
bacteria and helps keep external wounds clean and free from infection. Use it
on wounds, burns & cuts.
Honey is that it is able to help treat sore throats due to its antimicrobial
properties.  It soothes & kills the bacteria that causes the infection. Take a
spoonful of honey or gargle 2 tablespoons of honey, 4 tablespoons of lemon
juice and a pinch of salt.
A spoonful of honey is more effective than DM cough syrup. Honey raises
antioxidant levels.  In a study, 25 people were told to eat between 4 & 10
tablespoons of honey, depending on their weight, each day for a month. They
could eat the honey in almost any form, but it couldn't be baked or dissolved in
tea. Antioxidant levels significantly rose in the participants.  In another study,
researchers checked the blood of 25 men over 5 weeks. They found drinking 4
tablespoons of honey mixed into a 16-ounce glass of water improved the
antioxidant levels in their blood.   There was no weight gain in anyone & some
claimed eating honey for breakfast actually made them feel full and satisfied.
Darker honeys have higher antioxidant content than lighter honeys.
Honey has a low calorie content, has 40% less calories than sugar & it does not
add weight. Honey diffuses into the bloodstream in 7 minutes. Its free sugar
molecules make the brain function better since the brain is the largest
consumer of sugar.  Honey slows the oxidation of 'bad' IDL cholesterol, which is
responsible for causing arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Allergies
have been known to totally go away if you daily eat local honey but you must
eat honey from no more than 50 miles away from where you live. Diabetes was
cured in our bee keeper’s friend after he started consuming honey daily.  He
even stopped taking insulin shots.   1 teaspoon of honey a day helps calcium
utilization and prevents osteoporosis.  Our bee keeper has been eating honey
for 20 years and he has never had a cold.
Raw honey has been successfully used in the treatment of anemia because of
its simple sugars and trace minerals such as iron and copper.  When the sugar
content present in the blood decreases, extreme fatigue is felt and the heart
beat slows down. Raw honey has been used with great success in the
treatment of weak heartbeat and overcoming fatigue. Unlike normal muscles
which can afford to rest, the heart has to work continuously. Raw honey is one
of the best energy foods because it is predigested and is immediately
assimilated into the blood.
In India, it is common knowledge that raw honey will strengthen a weak heart,
weak brain, and a weak stomach. Raw honey is traditionally used for all
intestinal ailments because it is able to destroy bacteria. Since bacteria cannot
live in honey, it has a safe healing effect on the stomach and intestines.
Raw honey is an alkaline food, containing ingredients similar to those found in
fruits, which become alkaline in the digestive system. It can be used to
counteract acid indigestion. Because it doesn’t ferment in the stomach or
produce gas, it can be helpful in cases of gastritis and dyspepsia. For nausea
and recurrent vomiting, when the stomach is unable to retain any food, raw
honey mixed with ginger and lemon juices will relieve nausea and supply
energy. It helps to alleviate constipation.
Honey helps children in various ways by promoting the retention of calcium
contributing to the development of healthy teeth and sturdy limbs. A teaspoon
of honey given to children at bedtime will act as a sedative and help avoid
bedwetting.
The regular intake of honey reduces the incidence of muscle cramps. Cramps
occur when the calcium present in the blood is at a lower level, while the
phosphorus level is high. By taking honey the required levels are balanced.
In 1929, Dr. F.G. Banting, the discoverer of insulin, stated, “ In the United
States, the incidence of diabetes has increased proportionately with the per
capita consumption of sugar. Before the discovery of insulin, homeopathic
physicians successfully treated many diabetics with raw honey, after taking
them off sugar. The Indians of northern Mexico developed cases of diabetes as
they gave up the consumption of honey for white sugar. In all but extreme
cases, the diabetic systems vanished or decreased markedly. Diabetics and
hypoglycemics should consult a professional naturopath before attempting to
use raw honey for such benefit.

Cinnamon and Honey
Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some
call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey.. However, when left in a
cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing".   When
this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the
hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was.
Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the
honey. Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around.  Facts on
Honey and Cinnamon:  It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures
most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world.
Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine
for all kinds of diseases.  Honey can be used without any side effects for any
kind of diseases.  Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if
taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients.

BAD BREATH:
People of South America , first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon
of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh
throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS:
Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts
restores hearing. Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter
and cinnamon sprinkled on it!
