Scotty McCreery celebrates the first #1 of his career & Kenny chesney rescues more animals

This week Scotty McCreery celebrates the first #1 of his career since winning Idol seven years ago. When he sang that #1, ‘Five More Minutes’ at the Opry recently he got choked up because it was inspired by his grandfather who died three years ago. Scotty started singing when he hummed a few lines of a nursery rhyme at his one-year-old doctor’s check-up.

Earlier this week, 138 dogs and cats arrived in Florida by private jet and all the gas was paid for by Kenny Chesney. The pets were abandoned when their owners evacuated from St. John and St. Thomas after Hurricane Irma devastated several islands. Big Dog Ranch is the one who gets them to various rescues. They will be up for adoption after a 10-day waiting period. So far, Kenny and his friends have brought back 686 dogs from the islands and they’re planning a few more trips.

Last week Carrie Underwood donated $10,000 to her childhood friend and police chief in her hometown of Checotah, OK. So sad to hear he died Monday due to infection..

Finally - Jon Pardi’s first job when he moved to Nashville was a lifeguard at a private elementary school and he was also an after-school counselor there too.
